It describes a pattern in which anxiety symptoms persist beneath the surface of a high-performing, outwardly successful life.
What makes it particularly difficult to identify is that the very traits it produces:

Preparedness,
Perfectionism,
Always anticipating what’s next,
Responsibility,
Over-delivering,

Are often celebrated and rewarded in professional environments and even personal relationships.
So the anxiety gets reinforced rather than addressed.

    Many Black women were socialized early to anticipate, to prepare, to stay ten steps ahead. In many environments, hypervigilance was not just a nervous system pattern. It was a strategy that produced results.

    Over time, living in a state of sustained readiness accumulates in the body and the mind in ways that your body registers as chronic stress. Too often, chronic stress becomes normalized and unrecognized.
